Found in northeastern France, a very attractive and very well-preserved toleware advertising sign from the renowned French potash producer “Potasse d’Alsace”, from the Alsace region in Eastern France. The sign reads: "The potash from Alsace in the service of agriculture". The potash was mined in this NE region of France, and used to make soft soaps and fertilizers. The sign bears the appealing logo of the company showing a stork in front of the regional capital city of Strasbourg, famous for its cathedral depicted in the background (storks are a common sight and the symbol of this region, where they come to nest during the summer season). Note as well the small caption near left bottom corner notes the name and address of the sign maker: "S.P.A.P. 9 rue Vezelay, Paris" (in the 8th arrondissement). Superb vintage condition, with no rust and very minimal scratching along the edges only. The back-side is still very shiny, as this sign was displayed indoors. Small holes in the corners for hanging. Lovely vivid colors!
