Allée des Fougères (“Path of the Ferns”)
This authentic street sign was salvaged from Saint Etienne, a city named after Saint Stephen, located in southeastern France. French street signs rarely have a yellow enamel base, which makes the sign rare. Black lettering is raised (in relief). In the upper left corner is the town crest. In very good vintage condition with limited chipping of the enamel mainly in each of the four corners due to age and weather. The 2nd "E" of "Allée" shows a small defect in enameling. Was originally attached to a wall; four holes. The enamel has retained its vibrant colors and gloss. Lovely on a wall alone or in a grouping. Cast iron with enamel overlay; heavy.
Measures 17.75 inches by 10 inches.
